We’re only 6 months away from Mardi Gras! Galveston 2015 (February 6th thru Fat Tuesday, February 17th) and anyone “in the know” knows that you can’t plan too early for the event. Hotel rooms, beach houses, and other dwellings intended for rental, will be booked and occupied within a couple of months, if not weeks, after this post.
Although Mardi Gras! is known for fun, eating, and entertainment, its also well known that tourists tend to indulge in the consumption of alcoholic beverages. Some, to an extreme degree.
Galveston Police and Galveston County Sheriff’s deputies are relentless law enforcers, but they do understand that their is a large party going on on the island and are generally lenient when it comes to people who may be intoxicated. After all, we love when visitors come to our island.
If you visit the island to participate in the Mardi Gras! celebration and are stopped by police for a traffic violation, or for suspicion of DWI, its always beneficial to be aware of your rights to limit your exposure to the possibility of a detrimental situation. If the situation does escalate, knowing your rights will make matters far more manageable for your lawyer in the event that you are criminally charged.
Our law office is located at 1919 Sealy Street Galveston, Texas 77550 and you can also give us a call at (409) 765-5614 if you have questions about your rights in Texas when it comes to participating in field sobriety tests, blood draws, or if you need legal representation.
